Dr Dina Afrianty

Dina Afrianty is a Research Fellow at La Trobe University. Dina completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne in 2010. She frequently writes on issues including education, women's movements and disability in Indonesia. Dina is also the editor of Studia Islamika, an international journal of Islam in Southeast Asia.
Air Marshal (Ret) Eris Herryanto

Eris Herryanto was previously Indonesia’s Secretary of Defence and the Deputy Head of Indonesia’s Defence Industry Policy Committee situated within the Ministry of Defence. He was also the Secretary of the Asian Games in 2018.
Farina Situmorang

Farina Situmorang builds the strategic narrative for organizations. She leads strategic marketing and communications projects across industries.
In 2014, Farina headed the digital strategy campaign team during the 2014 Presidential election. Her team succeeded in creating a highly successful digital campaign for then Presidential candidate Joko Widodo, including launching the fastest growing political page in Facebook’s history reaching over 30 million voters and attaining 2.5 million likes in 3 weeks. Fun fact: her selfie with the President & Mark Zuckerberg was voted as one of CNN's world selfies of the week. She also served President Joko Widodo's Transition Policy Team post-election.
Farina Situmorang was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. She received her Bachelor of Science from University of Indonesia and her M.B.A. from Kellogg School of Management in Northwestern University.
Dr Nicholas McClean

Nicholas McClean is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the UTS Global Studies Program. As an interdisciplinary social scientist, Nicholas specialises in environmental and natural resource management, in particular fisheries and marine resource governance. He has recently been conducting fieldwork in Indonesia on the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries under the leadership of Ibu Susi Pudjiastuti.
Professor Pamela Nilan

Pam Nilan is a researcher in the area of the sociology of youth. Her research is undertaken at the international level, working with colleagues in Indonesia, Fiji, Spain, and France. Pam spends considerable time on research projects in Indonesia and has an extensive record of publications in this area.
Dr Ross Tapsell

Ross Tapsell is a lecturer and researcher at ANU’s College of Asia and the Pacific, specialising in media and culture in Southeast Asia. Ross has been a Visiting Fellow at The University of Indonesia (Jakarta), Airlangga University (Surabaya) and Indiana University (Bloomington, US). He has previously worked in Indonesia with The Jakarta Post and the Lombok Post.

Sakdiyah Ma'ruf
Keynote Speaker
Sakdiyah Ma'ruf is Indonesia's first Muslim female stand-up comedian. Sakdiyah uses this platform to advocate for equality and freedom. She has a B.A. in English and works with the Nine-Country Collaborative Research Program on Religion, Public Policy and Social Transformation in Southeast Asia led by the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies.

Kate Dennis
Mentor (Alumni Legacy Project)
Kate Dennis is a corporate communications practitioner with 20 years’ experience in the corporate, government, and education sectors. Kate has worked with UTS Insearch – the education pathway for to the University of Technology Sydney – for five years, as a practitioner of communications and public relations. She leads media and PR programs across countries such as China, Indonesia, Vietnam and India to support the profile and objectives of UTS Insearch.
Kate holds a Masters in Business from UTS, a Graduate Certificate of Change Management from the University of NSW and a Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Communications from Charles Sturt University.
Areas of interest include: entrepreneurship, change management, international education, PR and media relations in Asia and sponsorship management.
